LG on Wednesday announced that its smart TVs that are based on webOS, NetCast 4.0 and 4.5, would be getting access to Google Play Movies & TV. This would let users view movie and shows they have purchased previously and also buy new ones.

The option to buy and view movies and shows would be arriving in 104 countries starting this month. The TV shows section would however, reach US, Canada, UK, and Australia first followed by others. As per the company, users would also be able to pause what they are watching on the LG Smart TVs and continue viewing it on their handsets, tablets, or PC devices.

"The smart TV market is growing rapidly and with that comes a tremendous demand for fresher, higher-quality content," said In-kyu Lee, Senior Vice President and Head of the TV and Monitor Division at the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. "Meeting this demand is LG's highest priority, matched only by our desire to provide the best possible viewing experience on our TV products with the webOS platform. Our close partnership with Google will go a long way toward fulfilling the high expectations of LG Smart TV owners."

LG in August this year launched its 4K Oled TV range in India. The range includes two size options, with the 65-inch 4K Oled TV priced at Rs. 5,79,900, and the 55-inch model at Rs. 3,84,900. The TV range is the first from LG to combine Oled technology with a 4K resolution. The LG 4K Oled TV has inbuilt Harmon Kardon sound, is just 5.9mm thick at the edges, and is equipped with the LG's webOS proprietary operating system.
