Letter threatens to kill Punjab, Haryana HC judges in ‘serial blasts’
A letter threatening a series of bomb blasts to eliminate 21 judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on August 21 has sent police into a tizzy and security has been beefed up at the court premises.
Press Club manager Jatinderpal Singh said he received the anonymous letter on Tuesday which threatened to kill 21 judges of the court by triggering 21 blasts on August 21.
A case has been registered in this connection.
The letter, written in Punjabi, further stated: “21 August 2015 will be a black day for Punjab government. Stop us if you can. On 21 August, 21 serial blasts will target 21 judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.”
“We will take revenge from Punjab and Chandigarh for our murdered comrades,” it read.
Meanwhile, deputy police commissioner Sandeep Kumar Sharma said, “It can be anybody’s plot. But police are fully alert. Investigation is underway and things will become clear soon.”
The letter does not mention the name of any organisation and it was anonymous because of which it is slightly difficult to track its trail, he said.
“We have informed the senior officials about this,” he said.
