Intel at its Computex 2017 event introduced new Intel Core X-series processor family, which the company says it the most scalable, accessible and powerful desktop platform ever ranging from 4 to 18 cores. In addition to Intel Core i5 and Core i7, it has also introduced new Intel Core i9 processor brand for the highest performance for advanced gaming, VR and content creation. The Intel Core i9 Extreme Edition processor is the first consumer desktop CPU with 18 cores and 36 threads of power.

This also includes Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 that improves single- and dual-core performance in the new Intel Core X-series processors.

The New Socket R4 (LGA 2066)—compatible with all new Intel Core X-series processors (4C–18C) offers scalability with 10, 8, 6, and 4 cores with 18, 16, 14, and 12 cores coming soon. Intel has also introduced X299 chipset with improved I/O capabilities, providing the ultimate in flexibility – supporting 30 total high-speed I/O lanes, up to three Intel Rapid Storage Technology PCIe 3.0 x4 storage support, and support for Intel Ethernet Connection I219 (Jacksonville LAN PHY).

These new Intel Core X-Series processors start at $242 (Rs. 15,650 approx.) for the Core i5-7640K entry-level processor and goes up to $1,999 (Rs. 1,29,255 approx.) for the high-end Core i9-7980XE processor. These will ship starting from Q2 2017.
