New Delhi: India's ruling Congress party and the principal opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are in conflict over the appointment of a new parliamentary panel chairman.

The Congress party has made it clear they oppose the reappointment of veteran BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi as the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman following Thursday's fiasco when the ruling coalition members removed Joshi and appointed Congress lawmaker Saifuddin Soz.

Joshi walked out of the PAC meeting complaining the ruling coalition members were not allowing him to speak while the PAC met to finalise its controversial report on the 2G spectrum allocation scam.
