Indian-American jailed for embezzlement

Sujata “Sue” Sachdeva, a former Indian-American executive of Koss Corporation, was on Thursday sentenced to 11 years in prison for embezzling a whopping $34 million from the company to pay personal bills during her “wild shopping sprees.”
Ms. Sachdeva (47), former vice-president of finance of the Milwaukee-based headphones-maker, spent nearly all of the $34 million on shopping sprees in which she would buy the same luxury clothing items in multiple sizes and colours, and then never wear them, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
District Judge Lynn Adelman imposed the sentence after Ms. Sachdeva made a tearful statement — her first public comments since her arrest 11 months ago.
“I stand before you today truly remorseful…I know you have been deeply hurt by my dishonesty in ways I never intended,” Ms. Sachdeva said.
