India and Pakistan are likely to revive the cricket Test series between them soon. The issue is expected to figure among cricket officials of the two countries after the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting in Singapore.

The cricket series between the two countries was suspended in the wake of Mumbai terror attacks. However, India and Pakistani teams continue to play against each other in international tournaments. Earlier this month, India defeated Pakistan in the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.

Reports in the Pakistani media suggested that the issue had figured during the talks between the foreign secretaries of India and Pakistan in Islamabad last week. However, no Indian official was prepared to say anything on the subject. A BCCI source said nothing had been firmed up in that connection so far.

It is learnt that the matter might be negotiated between the BCCI and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), depending on the outcome of External Affairs Minister SM Krishna’s visit to Islamabad in mid-July.

However, there are doubts whether the BCCI would agree to holding series in Pakistan, given the security situation in that country. The series could be held at a neutral venue or in India.
