Considering the safety of flight passengers, Indian authorities have banned flyers from carrying Samsung Galaxy Note 7 in Check-In Luggage. US authorities have already banned it after reports of the device frequently exploding due to battery issues.

According to one of the airport officials, The Note 7 has a 3,500 mAh lithium-ion battery which is of higher capacity than average phones in the market and it gets heated up. Similarly, usage of power banks have also been banned. The devices are only allowed to be carried in hand bags in switched off state.

They will only be allowed to carry these devices in hand bags and keep them switched off during the entire duration of flights,” DGCA Chief chief B S Bhullar said.

There were reports that some phones were exploding or catching fire during or soon after charging. Samsung later explained that this happened due to the fault on a batch of batteries supplied to them. Samsung has recalled millions of devices and itself has asked users to stop using the phone. As per reports, over 30 instances of fire have been reported so far.
