Chandigarh, December 20
An electronic channel today claimed that the question paper of International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam, which was being conducted by IDP, Australia, at Himachal Bhawan, Sector 28, here today, was leaked.
More than 15,000 students took the exam at 28 centres. This news channel claimed that it conducted a sting operation and had proof that the question paper was leaked.
However, when asked to show proof to substantiate their claim, the channel authorities came out with handwritten pages of answers.
They also did not distribute it to the media present there.
“We have a proof about the exam leak. We were even offered Rs 1.5 crore from Australia not to disclose the exam leak. The answersheets were openly selling for Rs 1 lakh in Himachal Bhawan yesterday,” claimed Devinder Singh Sodhi, an official of the news channel.
He alleged that they gave this information to the police and handed them over three persons involved in the paper leak, but the police has released them and is not taking the matter seriously, he added. “We asked the officials of Planet Education, partner of IDP, to show us the question paper, and it was the same one which was with us,” added Sodhi.
DSP (East) P.K. Dhawan said: “We have not received any complaint about the question paper leak. Even we have shown the question paper to the officials of News 24 and it was different.”
Regional manager, Planet Education, Preetinder said, “We have shown the question paper to the police and the officials of that news channel and they are satisfied.” The parents of students present there said: “If the news channel has anything, they should go to the police, why are they creating a scene at the examination centre.”
