Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC showed off the HTC One to Indian fans at a little preview event in Mumbai today. At the event, the company revealed that the HTC One will arrive in Indian stores next month. However, the company wasn’t very forthcoming with the expected price of the device.

We did get manage to get our hands on the device for a few minutes, but it wasn’t enough to gather any major impressions. The fact that we had to battle it out with seven other rabid HTC fans for a glimpse of the device didn’t help matters either.

The HTC One's BlinkFeed homescreen

The display of the HTC One looks great and images are crisp. BlinkFeed was on, but it didn’t look special or newfangled. The HTC Zoe feature looked promising, but we didn’t get to fully explore the camera. However, one big pain point of our few minutes with the device was the two-button setup. Time and again, we would hit the centre button from muscle memory and nothing would happen. Adjusting to the layout will be a steep learning curve for most Android users.

The HTC One was launched last month at swanky, simultaneous events in London and New York. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 600 SoC, which has four Krait cores clocked at 1.7GHz each. There is also an Adreno 320 GPU and a healthy 2GB of RAM.

The One has a 4.7-inch full HD SuperLCD3 display, the first of its kind. It has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and has a pixel density of 469 PPI, the highest we have come across yet.

Around the back is the brand new Ultrapixel camera, which HTC claims clicks better-lit images and captures more details than comparable 8 or 13-megapixel cameras. It also has the HTC Zoe feature, which when enabled captures 5 photos before you press the shutter and another 15 after you do. It also shoots a three-second HD video clip besides giving you the 20 pictures. This gives you short clips with audio, which are called Zoes. These short videos will then be stitched together to create a more immersive and visually impressive clip.

Here are some of the key specifications of the HTC One:
4.7-inch LCD display with 1080p resolution
HSPA+; LTE, Cat3, GPRS/EDGE
Wi-Fi 802.11 a/ac/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot
GPS with A-GPS support and GLONASS
Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP
NFC
HTC UltraPixel camera with autofocus, 2.1-megapixel front camera
32 or 64GB internal memory
