HP’s opened up its embargoed coffers on a whole slew of new notebooks this morning, and rounding out their newly refreshed models comes a rejiggering of their ProBook line of business laptops.
Like the last run of ProBooks, the HP ProBook 4325S, 4425S and 4525 are brushed aluminum notebooks, but instead of Intel CPUs, the new ProBooks are configurable with AMD’s spanking new Phenom II quad-core and triple-core processors, as well as Turion II and Athlon II CPUs. HP boasts a 69% performance boost over previous HP AMD laptops, which is a welcome, albeit late, performance jump over the sluggish prior models. GPU wise, the S-Series ProBooks come with an impressive ATI Mobility Radeon HD 530v discrete GPU option for a starting price of just $619, making the line a practical steal.
But there are still more ProBooks to consider. The 14 and 15-inch 6445b and 6555b have the same CPU options, but come with a more durable, accident-proof chassis for $799. Then there’s the 6450b and 6550b, which pack Core iX processors.
Then there’s the budget baby of the ProLine: the 14-inch HP 425 and 15.6-inch 625, packing an AMD 2.3GHz Turion 2 CPU or a 2.1GHz Athlon II CPU, as well as ATI Radeon HD 4200 integrated graphics for a price starting at just $550.
