Whether those long, hazy California summer days make the A-list restless about ditching their current squeeze and seeking out a new love, or celebs start considering how much fun a new summer fling might be, one thing's for sure, we're now entering the romantic silly season in T-town.

With our cover star, True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard splitting from Superman Returns actress Kate Bosworth, Anne Hathaway rumoured to be pining for her jailed ex, and Zoe Kravitz moving on from her Fassbender fling to date Gossip Girl's Penn Badgley, it's almost impossible to keep up! Luckily we're on-hand to guide you through Hollywood's summer of loving and leaving…

Summer Lovin'

Scarlett Johansson and Justin Bartha

Moving on from her ill-advised (and very brief) romance with Sean Penn, 24 years her senior, Scarlett's rumoured to be hooking up on the sly with Hangover 2 star. Justin Bartha. Justin, who split from Ashley Olsen in March after two years together, was spotted backstage at an off-Broadway show with Scarlett, last week, with an onlooker revealing that the pair were "engrossed in each other".

Scarlett, 26, and Justin, 33, then headed off to dinner with Scrubs actor Zach Braff and Justin's Hangover co-star, Heather Graham, to New York's Café Un Deux Trois, where a source spilled, "Scarlett and Justin sat next to each other and talked all night. They seemed pretty fascinated with each other and only talked to each other. It looked sometimes flirty, but also they seemed to be involved in a deep discussion."

David Arquette and Christina McLarty

Proving once and for all that there will be no reunion with estranged wife, Courteney Cox, David Arquette last week stepped out on the town with rumoured new girlfriend, Christina McLarty. Christina, who walked out on Girls Gone Wild producer, Joe Francis, after just one month of marriage in December last year, accompanied Arquette to a Comic-Con party, with an onlooker saying, "They danced the night away together."

Zoe Kravitz and Penn Badgley

Despite having fallen fast for one another during the filming of X-Men: First Class, Zoe Kravitz has moved on from Michael Fassbender to date Gossip Girl star, Penn Badgley.

Penn, who split from Blake Lively earlier this year, was spotted with Zoe at the premiere party for Friends With Benefits, last week, with the pair following up with a trip to catch Horrible Bosses the next day. "He had his arm around her while they waited in line," a spy told Page Six.

Anne Pines For Her Ex

Despite being in a relationship with US actor, Adam Shulman, US sources claim Anne Hathaway is still pining for her ex-boyfriend, Raffaello Follieri - who was famously found guilty of money laundering back in 2008 and was sentenced to four years in jail.

And with Raffaello due for release next year, The Enquirer reports that Anne's thoughts have returned to the Italian entrepreneur she dated for four years.

"The two have been exchanging letters," spilled an insider. "She's never stopped caring for him and still respects him. Anne is very much with Adam, but that hasn't stopped her reconnecting with Raffaello."

Summer leaving

Alexander Skarsgard and Kate Bosworth

It turned out not to be true love for True Blood star, Alexander, as the 34-year-old has split from his girlfriend of almost two years, actress Kate Bosworth. Said to have been flirting up a storm during his appearance at last week's Comic-Con, pals say Alex and Kate's split was "mutual", with sources close to Alex insisting that he is "relishing being single."

"He's loving the attention," spilled one, with Comic-Con bash-goers spotting Alex chatting up a stunning brunette actress at one party.

Jesse James and Kat Von D

Reality TV star - and ex-husband of Sandra Bullock - Jesse James, has called time on his engagement to tattoo artist, Kat Von D, with the pair claiming that their living arrangements made it impossible to continue with a relationship.

Having won full custody of his seven-year-old daughter, Sunny, after a judge ruled that his ex-wife (and Sunny's mum), Janine Lindemulder should attend rehab, Jesse moved back to Texas full-time, while Kat stayed in LA, where she has her own tattoo parlour and reality TV show, LA Ink.

"I'm so sad because I really love her," Jesse told People. "The distance between us was just too much."

Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler

After The Hills star, Kristin Cavallari split from her Chicago Bears quarterback fiancé, Jay Cutler last week, the public mudslinging started, with Jay's pals claiming he ditched her, and sources close to Kristin, 24, dubbing the NFL player "beyond controlling."

"[He] didn't really like Kristin to go out," spilled a pal. "When she did go out, he called all the time and demanded to know exactly where she was going and who she was with." Adding, "He made her choose between him and being friends with a lot of her girlfriends. I'm not surprised it didn't last"

And sad Kristen is said to have been "blindsided" by the broken engagement, claiming Jay's decision came "out of nowhere."
