Hit by truck, cyclist dies

In a hit-and-run case, a cyclist was killed after he was hit by a speeding truck on the road between the poultry farm roundabout and the Hallo Majra light point last night. The victim was a resident of Mauli Jagran.
According to the police, Raj Kumar, a resident of Colony No. 4, alleged that the truck sped away after hitting the cyclist, identified as Surjit Singh, a resident of Vikas Nagar, Mauli Jagran. The complainant claimed that the truck had a registration number of Himachal Pradesh. However, he failed to note down the complete number.
The injured was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, where doctors declared him brought dead.
A case under Sections 279 (rash driving), 304-A (causing death due to negligence) and 337 (causing hurt by an act endangering the life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the unknown driver at Industrial Area police station.
