Hidden SSID, No security

So my wireless router would get hot and then hang, many times a day.

So I renamed SSID, disabled ssid broadcast with no security (wep or wpa)
Now router doesn't hang and local network file sharing is FAST.


What are the risks

Hiding SSID is no security
just normal people can't see your Wifi
softwares can be used to connect to it
