New Delhi August 8:
Heavy rains drenched the national capital for the fifth day on Friday causing traffic snarls and water-logging in many parts of the city.
The showers started early in the morning and continued later during the day upsetting travel plans of commuters as vehicular movement was slow. The city received 6.8 mm of rainfall between 8:30 am and 11:30 am after 15.2 mm of rainfall between 5.30 pm on Thursday and 8.30 am on Friday morning.
Traffic virtually came to a standstill in several areas including ITO, Connaught Place, Lakshmi Nagar, Kingsway Camp, R K Puram and South Extension. Non-functioning of traffic signals at some places also added to the problem. The minimum temperature was recorded at 24.9 degree Celsius against Thursday's 25.6 degrees.
