A businessman from Gujarat has said he will provide financial support for children of the 18 soldiers who were martyred in the terror attack on an army camp in Kashmir’s Uri on Sunday.
Mahesh Savani of PP Savani Group has decided fund the education of the children of those martyred in the attack. He will look after their education till their graduation and will take the whole responsibility of the marriage of the soldiers’ daughters.
Savani said he was touched when he saw the daughter of one of the soldiers crying on television.
“I read on paper and heard a daughter of the Uri braveheart in one of the television shows. We have decided that we will sponsor the education of all the children of the 18 martyrs,” Savani told ANI.
“Besides this, we will also bear all the cost for the marriage of their daughters. We will ask the government to tell us the details of their families and their addresses, and then a five-member team from our group will go to their respective houses,” he added.
Thousands from 111 different institutions from Surat gathered on Thursday to pay tribute to the Uri bravehearts.
Various Doctor’s Associations, Rotary Club, Lioness Club and other institutions had organised a “maun rally” to pay respect to the soldiers who were killed in the terror attack.
At least 18 soldiers lost their lives and more than 20 were injured in a terror strike on an army camp close to the headquarters of the 12th Brigade at Uri in Baramulla district.
