Google has released developer preview 5 for Android 7.0 Nougat for compatible Nexus devices, ahead of the final release of the update. It released developer preview 4 last month that brought final Android N SDK with final APIs (API level 24). This doesn’t add any new features but it comes with latest bug fixes and optimizations across the system and in pre-installed apps.

“This preview gives developers the near-final system updates for all of the supported preview devices, helping you get your app ready for consumers,” said Google.

Google says that there will be minor stability issues, along with multi-window, camera, DND, Vulkan, and Android Auto bugs in the latest developer preview.

Android N Developer preview 5 (build NPD90G) is now available for download for Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, and Pixel C devices, as well as General Mobile 4G (Android One) devices through the Android developer website here. You can also get it through Android Beta Program.

Stable Android 7.0 Nougat will be available in Q3 2016, which is likely in September when the new Nexus smartphones are also expected.
