If you’ve been dreaming about wearing Google-inspired T-shirts, scarfs, and necklaces, now you can - the search firm has begun selling a limited edition fashion pieces influenced by its omnipresence.
It’s the geeks’ dream come true, straight from the geekiest company in the world. Emerging designers who participated in the last year’s Fashion Fund were tasked with creating a fashion piece inspired by the Google world. The designers were given freedom to draw their inspiration from any piece of the Google brand, including a familiar color scheme of the Google logo.
Google’s product marketing manager Michaela Prescott wrote in a company blog post that Googlers fell in love with a couple of designs so much that they decided to sell them to the public:
We’re debuting three of our favorite designs from this challenge. These three featured designers have customized their original designs for a broader audience, and we’re making them available to the public to purchase for a limited time.
Google-inspired fashion items available on this page range from a deconstructed, peace “vintage” inspired, hand silk-screened T-shirt worth $80 and a $300 multi-yarn, intarsia hand-knit scarf in Google’s signature colors to accessories like a $200 search-inspired magnifying glass pendant. If most of your daily computing is spent in the Google cloud and you fancy the company, why not pimp your outer appearance with one of those items? I’ve already had my eye on that cool T-shirt…
Fashion Fund is sponsored by Vogue and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). Last October, Google chose ten of the finalists’ designs and transformed them into premium iGoogle Artists themes.
