It was the 15-year-old's first visit to the capital and she experienced the worst the city had to offer. The teenager was drugged and raped by three men for over five hours on Thursday night in New Ashok Nagar in east Delhi. On Friday, she recalled the faces of two of the accused and helped the cops prepare their sketches, leading to the arrest of the trio later in the day.
"The accused have been booked for gang rape and criminal conspiracy. The survivor is being counselled by professionals," said Omvir Singh, DCP (East) on Saturday.
The girl had volunteered to come from Muzaffarpur in Bihar to look after her uncle and aunt, who had been rendered bed-ridden in a car accident on December 11 while on a visit to the capital to attend a family wedding. A cousin, a Delhi-resident, had rented the ground-floor room for their use during their treatment.
In her statement to the cops, the survivor said that around 9.30pm on Thursday she had stepped out of the kitchen to drink water when two men grabbed her and pressed a drug-dipped cloth to her nose. Rendered semi-conscious, she had been carried up the iron stairs at the back of the house to an upper room, where a third man, later identified as the landlord of the building, joined them. They gagged her and then sat down to have liquor.
Soon after, the two youths had raped her in turn. Hearing the landlord talking to his wife while she was being brutalised inside, she tried to raise an alarm, but one of the men throttled her into unconscious. A little later, the landlord came and ravaged her to.
The girl told police that perhaps some hours later, the men had sedated her a second time. Seeing her limp body and presuming she had died due to an overdose, they left her on the bench outside her room on the ground floor.

At this time, her cousin was searching for her in the locality. "Initially, I thought she had gone out to buy groceries and lost her way back. But the partly cooked food in the kitchen made us suspicious," he said.

When he and other relatives returned to the house, they found the gate locked from inside. They tried but could not reach the landlord on his phone.
It was then that one of them peered through the gate and noticed the girl lying outside the room. "We informed the police and a PCR team arrived. They forced the landlord to open the gates," said a family member

The cops found the girl lying semi-conscious outside the room with injuries on her face and bite marks on her neck. She was taken to hospital and could record her statement only on Friday afternoon.
Based on the description she gave of her rapists, the investigators started questioning the local people. They zeroed in on the tenants on the second floor of the house, two young men who were preparing for a government examination. The duo confessed to having raped the girl in connivance with the landlord. Police said that the men had twice tried to lure the girl before the actual incident but had been foiled by the presence of family members visiting the ailing man and woman.
