Mohali: Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani is expected to be here to watch the India-Pakistan cricket World Cup semifinal on March 30.

Intimation from Islamabad that Gilani will be arriving for the match has reached here.

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had invited Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Gilani to watch the Mohali match on March 30, which is expected to bring the two nations to a standstill.

The decision regarding Gilani's visit has been taken after Zardari and Gilani held a meeting late night on Saturday.

The Pakistan government had announced that they will take a decision on whether it will be Zardari or Gilani who will witness the match after Gilani who was on a foreign tour returns to Pakistan.

According to sources, the Pakistan’s diplomats felt that declining Singh’s invitation to watch the match may scuttle attempts to normalise relationships between the two countries.

The Punjab Cricket Association has requested the police to provide extra security following the news that top politicians from Pakistan will be here for the match.

An official statement from Islamabad regarding Gilani’s visit is expected to be released soon to the Indian government.
