This photograph shows the construction work on the new gothic clock tower that replaced it underway. Wooden scaffolding can be seen supporting the new tower during its construction. This project would continue for a decade before the gothic clock tower was finally completed.
In this photograph taken only a few years after the demolition of the gothic clock tower (1950) and courtyard wall we now see a newly constructed clock tower in the Sikh style serves as a north entrance to the Darbar Sahib complex and a widened parkarma with new offset buildings behind it. This new architecture has remained relatively unchanged in the last half century
