New Delhi, Sep 4: The latest US cables released by Wikileaks have now revealed that Gandhi family prefered Priyanka Gandhi over Rahul when it came to entering the politics.
According to a report in the Daily Bhaskar, the website showed comments made by politician and columinist Saeed Naqvi in conversation with Poloff, a US official in Mar 1, 2005.
He further said that Sonia a Italian mother 'like an Indian mother' chose Rahul over Priyanka as 'heir apparent.
The website also noted the remarks made by Naqvi where he said that he was a personal friend of Rajiv Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi's father.
According to the cable, Congress insiders believed that inner circle surrounding Sonia Gandhi believed that Rahul would never become the Prime Minister of the country for various reasons.
Naqvi was also quoted as saying that Rahul suffered from 'personality problems of psychological or emotional nature.
Naqvi also claimed that insiders in Congress told him that Rahul also failed as an MP when he went to Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.
"Naqvi told in his conversation that Rahul has done nothing for UP except to make pro-form a appearances in Amethi and he made no impression on the people of the state," said the US cable.
The website in Jun 2008 had also indicted that DMK preferred Sonia Gandhi over Manmohan Singh for the prime ministerial candidate in 2009 Lok Sabha polls.
