Apple is a great fruit widely being used for cakes, pies and many health care products too.

Everyone is familiar with the context ' An apple a day keeps the doctor away'
which is very true. Due to its useful components it has got a new found respect.

The properties of the apple are mind-boggling.
It has been increasingly used for shampoos, conditioners, face wash and many more. It is a true candidate of hair and skin care.

Home Based Recipes


  • Having Braeburn apples can protect you from the UV rays. It is one of the best qualities of apple which has components to protect you from UV rays.


  • Grind 1 cored and quartered apple in a blender. Add 1 tsp. honey, sage to the mixture. Refrigerate it for 10 minutes. Apply this mixture on your face. Keep it for 30 minutes and later rinse it. This can be used for normal skin.


  • Mix 1 tbsp apple juice with 5-6 drops of lime juice. Apply this on your face. Keep it for 15 minutes. Wash it with cold water. It is very good for oily skin.


  • Grate an apple and keep it in the refrigerator to cool. Apply this grated apple on your face for 15 minutes then rinse it with cool water. Works well for dry skin.


  • You can remove overnight blemishes by dabbing apple cider vinegar on your face before bed. A rejuvenated and radiant skin will await you in the morning.


  • Age spots can be lightened by patting areas with apple cider vinegar before bed.


  • Take 1/2 peeled cucumber, 1 egg white; 1/2 tsp. lemon juice, 1/2 tsp. lime juice, 1/2 tsp. apple mint leaves and a drop of lime essential oil. Mix the ingredients into a smooth paste except the essential oil which is added last and mixed well again. Refrigerate for 10 minutes. Apply it on your face. Leave it for 20 minutes. Wash it with warm water for a great effect.


  • Cut 1 apple in small pieces and liquidize it. Mix 1 tsp honey and sage to this liquidated apple and blend it well. Apply it on your face and relax for 15 minutes. Once done rinse it and pat dry.


  • Take 1/2 peeled and sliced apple, 1 tbsp. honey, one egg yolk, one tbsp. ascorbic acid, vinegar and 2 tbsp oil. Blend these ingredients for smooth paste. Apply this paste on your face, till dry and wash it lukewarm water.

Guava is rich of vitamin C, carotenoids, potassium, calcium and iron. Vitamin C in guava is five times more than that of an orange. Here are some wonderful uses for guava.


  • The roots, leaves, bark and immature fruits are used for gastroenteritis as they are astringents.
  • The fiber content in guava controls blood pressure and cholesterol. As a result it is very beneficial for heart.
  • Vitamin C in guava fruit regulates heart beat and fights with free radicals. The potassium content and fiber in guava helps kidney in eliminating wastes.
  • Lycopene in guava reduces the risk of cancer.
  • Guava controls diabetes and it is good for constipation.
  • Apply the crushed leaves on wounds and aching places to get relief from pain.
  • Chew the leaves of guava after washing thoroughly to get relief from toothache.
  • The decoction of leaves of guava is a good remedy for cough and throat pain.
  • Gargling with the decoction of guava leaves relieves from swollen gums and oral ulcers.
  • The decoction is also beneficial for skin diseases and it is very useful in stopping the puking sensation.
  • In traditional medicine, the extraction of leaves is used to cure epilepsy and cholera. Convulsions in children can be treated by rubbing the stain on their spines.
  • In some tribes, the decoction of leaves and bark is used to expel the placenta after childbirth.

Papaya has many nutrients that nourish skin. A 1-cup serving has just 55 calories and is a great source of dietary fiber,potassium, magnesium, folate, and vitamins A and C. There are more than 40 different papaya species. The one commonly found in the grocery store is the Solo variety. This pear-shaped fruit can be eaten alone, in salsa, as part of a delicious dessert or incorporated into a main dish. If you want to boost skin health, papayas will be a welcome addition to your diet.


Vitamin C
Papaya is extremely high in vitamin C, providing 86.5mg in 1 cup. That's 144 percent of the recommended daily value for this nutrient. Vitamin C supports collagen production for healthy skin and is a powerful antioxidant that protects skin cells from damage by free radicals.


Vitamin A
Eating a cup of papaya will provide 31 percent of the recommended vitamin A, or 1,531 I.U. Vitamin A helps your body maintain and repair skin tissue.


B Vitamins
A cup of papaya has 53.2mcg of folate, or 13 percent of the recommended daily value for this B vitamin. The fruit also provides small amounts of other B vitamins, including niacin. B vitamins are vital to skin health, according to Harvard Medical School.


Vitamin E
Papayas contain some vitamin E as well. Vitamin E helps guard skin against sun damage and protect skin cells from free radical damage. One cup gives 5 percent of the daily recommended value of vitamin E, or 1mg.


Potassium
The mineral potassium balances fluids in the body and contributes to overall health. A cup of papaya has 10 percent of the daily recommended potassium, or 360mg.


Magnesium
A 1-cup serving of papaya provides 14mg of magnesium, which is 3 percent of the recommended daily value. Magnesium is essential to a host of chemical reactions in the body, including those that are responsible for skin health.
