Facebook is creating a new Snapchat alternative app codenamed Slingshot
It seems like Facebook is in great love with Snapchat. After the video and picture messaging app turn down the $3 billion acquisition offer from Facebook, the social network giant planned to take on Snapchat with its own app. According to the recent reports by the Financial Times, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is personally supervising an internal effort to create a new app based on Snapchat formula.
Internally, it is being called βSlingshotβ and is expected to go official sometime this month. It is not the first time when Facebook is trying to beat Snapchat, the companyβs previous attempt was failed with Poke and it decided to shut it down. And if reports are to be believed then we are hearing that Poke was developed within 12 hours.
The Facebook Creative Lab team has promised to bring some exciting new apps for its users this year. After the successful launch of Paper, we are expecting to see something better and impressive with Slingshot.
