Shortly after the Dindoshi sessions court rejected the anticipatory bail application (ABA) of Rahul Raj Singh in a cheating case, a police team failed to find him at his Versova apartment. Singh’s phone was also found to be switched off.
Trouble seems to be mounting for the actor-producer, who had a charge sheet filed against him for abetting the suicide of his girlfriend, TV actor Pratyusha Banerjee. On April 1, as actors went to Kokilaben Hospital where Banerjee was declared dead, Heer Patel walked in accusing Singh of cheating her of lakhs of rupees.
Patel, a model-actor, approached the Versova police on July 2 and lodged a complaint against Singh.
Patel’s mother Geeta registered the FIR and stated, “Singh narrated a film script and asked her to arrange for Rs25 lakh. He promised to cast her as a lead actress and promised to give my husband the title of producer for the same,” said Geeta in her complaint.
Singh recently filed an anticipatory bail application before the Dindoshi sessions court. However, on Thursday, the court rejected his application. A few hours after the application was rejected, Rahul’s phone was found switched off.
A police source said, “A police team went to his apartment to search for him but the door was locked and Singh was not found there. We are on the lookout for him.” When asked if Singh will be arrested as the ABA is rejected, Kiran Kale, senior inspector at Versova police station said, “We will arrest him once we find him.”
