A 21-year-old woman was allegedly raped by two auto rickshaw drivers near east Delhi’s Geeta Colony flyover on Friday evening.
The accused, who were arrested later during the night, took the woman to a secluded place and took turns to rape her.
The woman, who works as a domestic help, was travelling with her two-year-old daughter from Ludhiana to Lucknow. She de-boarded the train at New Delhi railway station to board another train to Lucknow.
As she came out of the station, an auto-rickshaw driver approached her and asked where she had to go. The woman told him that she wanted to reach Anand Vihar railway station but did not know the route, said a police officer.
“The auto rickshaw driver realised that the woman was unaware about the city. He agreed to drop her to the railway station. The woman boarded his auto with her child,” a police officer said.
The auto driver left for Anand Vihar railway station and signalled his friend, another auto driver, to follow him. The accused took the woman and her child to a secluded place near Yamuna Pushta and took turns to rape her, police said.
“They dropped the woman and her child back to New Delhi railway station and fled. She approached the New Delhi railway police and filed a rape complaint,” the officer said.
Mukesh Kumar Meena, special CP (New Delhi range), said a case of gangrape was registered and the accused were arrested later in the night with the help of the details provided by the woman.
