A lookout notice has been sent by Mumbai Police against former world Billiards champion Michael Ferreira as he was failed to appear before them in association with a 425-crore rupees scam. The lookout notice was issued by Mumbai Police in connection with a multi- level marketing firm QNet, in which Ferreira claimed to hold shares.
For the delivery of agriculture credit and financial inclusion, Corporation Bank has launched a year-long campaign initiatives at all its branches. The campaign has been launched in tune with the ‘International Year of Family Farming’, announced by the United Nations (UN) for 2014. The focus of the campaign is to encourage sustainable development of agricultural systems based on self-help groups, community units, farming families and cooperatives working in rural areas.
To get ground-level response and analyse people’s pulse and aspirations Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) new social mantra will be “Mere Sapno Ka Bharat”. The campaign will soon be launched by core group of the party which includes Smriti Z. Irani, Vice President of BJP and Narendra Modi, Gujarat Chief Ministerand BJP’s presidential candidate. The team will monitor the initiation to get a grassroots level assessment of people’s concerns.

To commemorate the Birthday of Louis Braille, World Braille Day was celebrated across world on January 4. The inventor of Braille system for reading and writing for visually impaired people, Louis Braille was born on 4th January 1809 in Coupvray, France. Brialle was blinded in an accident during in an early age and had later developed mastery over that blindness. Rallies were taken out worldwide by different organisations of visually impaired people to spread the awareness about Braille system.

Appointment
S Venkateswaran has been appointed as the new Chief of Tata sustainability Group of Tata Sons. He will drive group level initiatives in the sustainability space and will guide Tata Sons and the group companies on CSR initiatives and sustainability. Venkateswaran will work directly under Mukund Rajan, Member and Group Executive Council of Brand Custodian and Chief Ethics Officer of Tata Sons. Prior to Tata Sons, Venkateswaran was working as Director-Sustainability with Price waterhouse Coopers (PwC) India.
N P Singh, Chief Operation Officer of Multi-Screen Media, formerly known as SET India has been promoted to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from immediate effect. In his new role, Singh will work under Andy Kaplan, the President of Worldwide Networks, Sony Pictures Television. Simultaneously the current CEO of Multi-Screen Media (MSM) , Manjit Singh will serve as a Non-Executive Chairman role of MSM. He will also relocate to Los Angeles to assume other responsibilities of company.

Yuki Bhambri has made it to the quarter finals in the ATP Tour Chennai Open Tennis championship. The third seeded Fabio Fagnini of Italy retired after losing the first set 2-6 and at the drawing level 5-5 in the second with winner of Davis Cup, Bhambri. On the other hand, Ramkumar Ramanathan of Chennai lost the game by 2-6, 4-6 to M Grannolers of Spain.
American Tennis player Serena Williams has smashed Russian Maria Sharapova and qualified the finale during the Brisbane International tennis tournament held in Brisbane. Williams crushed Sharapove in straights 6-2 and 7-6 in two rounds and will meet the ruling Australian Open champion Victoria Azarenka. Prior to this, Azarenka defeated former No. 1-ranked Jelena Jankovic in the Brisbane International final
India smashed Sri Lanka to play against Pakistan in the final of the Asian Cricket Council Under-19 Asia Cup. In the second semi-finals, Sri lanka was defeated by India by 3 wickets at the ICC Academy. Now Pakistan and India will play against each other in final at Sharjah.
