Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation that poses and does marketing for the Amul brand of milk products has planned to manufacture paneer (cottage cheese), ghee (butter oil) and shrikhand (a sweet dish made of strained yogurt) in New York which will spread Brand Amul to America. In the initial phase, around 3 million Indian and many more Asian consumers will be targeted. More than Rs 35 crore of milk products is exported to the US alone. For this, the dairy major has joined hands with a New Jersey-based non-resident Indian to start the plant. Prior, Kaira (Anand) District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Ltd (Amul Dairy) has entered into an agreement with GCMMF and the NRI.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India has transferred above Rs 2,000 crore in direct benefit to consumers in 184 districts of India. The transfer has been made in these high-Aadhaar coverage districts where 66 million consumers have been benefited. The direct benefit scheme focuses to reduce leakages, curb black-marketing and provide subsidy to consumers in their bank accounts.
The Light Combat Aircraft, Tejas team has set another significant milestone with a new record of 500 flights in a year. Its highest achieved in a calendar year thus far which is close on the heels of attaining IOC.

Awards & Honours
B. Mahipal Reddy, a Chief Scientist and Head of Inorganic and Physical Chemistry Division at CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology has been awarded with the Best Scientist Award of Science-Tech Foundation (STF), Bangalore. Reddy has been recognised for his efforts to bio-mass conversion to value-added products, develop the novel catalysts for air pollution control, synthesis of fine chemicals and solar fuels and the conversion of greenhouse gases to useful chemicals. He has written more than 220 publications in high-impact international journals and he is holder of 8 patents.

Appointment
Arup Raha, Air Marshal has taken over as the Indian Air Force chief at Air Headquarters in New Delhi. An ace fighter pilot, Raha has succeeded Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne. In his 39-year-old career, Raha has held instructional appointments, various staff, command and he is expected to have tenure of 3 years as the Chief of Air Staff.
A career diplomat Anurag Bhushan has taken charge as the new Dubai Consul General of India and Northern Emirates in the UAE. Earlier taking the charge as the Consul General, Bhushan was serving as the head of the Regional passport office in New Delhi. Bhushan, the 14th Consul General of India in Dubai has succeded Sanjay Verma, who is the newly appointed ambassador of India to Ethiopia.

Resignation
Chairman of Hindustan Motors Limited, Chandra Kant Birla has resigned from the board. He also left the post of director of Hindustan Motors (HM). In 18- month period, company has incurred a huge loss of 71 crore rupees as compared to a loss of 29 crore rupees in 2011-12. The economic loss of company has affected Hindustan Motors Limited.

South Africa smashed India by 10 wickets in the second cricket Test and clinched series with 1-0 in Durban. All-rounder Jacques Kallis made his farewell test hit with a superb 115 runs in South Africa’s first innings. AB De Villiers was adjudged Man of the Series and Dale Steyn was announced as Man of the Match.
South Africa has again strengthen its position in ICC Test Team Rankings as the number-one ranked side. South Africa after their 10-wicket victory over India in the final Test in Durban, South Africa. The victory of 1-0 series has helped South Africa gain 2 rating points to end on 133 where as India has conceded 2 ratings points to finish at 117. Meanwhile, Australia finished third in ICC Test Team Ranking.
