Lancashire v Yorkshire

Lancashire started the day needing 305 runs with nine wickets in hand. However, within the first hour of day all the hopes were drained out. Yorkshire struck early to send the back the overnight pair of Haseeb Hameed and Luke Procter.

Karl Brown and Livingstone showed some resistance with a 63-run stand, but the latter was nipped out by Adil Rashid and from there on it was a procession. Rashid, as well as Tim Bresnan picked up four wickets apiece as Yorkshire won by 175 runs.

Brief scores: Yorkshire 308 and 236 (Liam Plunkett 57, Neil Wagner 4-71) beat Lancashire 196 and 173 (Karl Brown 51, Rashid 4-17, Bresnan 4-36) by 175 runs.

Middlesex v Hampshire

Middlesex completed mere formalities on day four to pick up an easy win over Hampshire.

Trailing by 236, Hampshire started the day with opener Jimmy Adams battling on 47 but lost Weatherley early in the day. Even though the lower-order put up some fight, James Fuller finished with a five-for to script his team's victory by an innings and 116 runs.

Brief scores: Middlesex 467-3d (Dawid Malan 147, Adam Voges 160*) beat Hampshire 131 (Tim Murtagh 4-33, Roland-Jones 4-49) and 220 (Jimmy Adams 78, James Fuller 5-70, Tim Murtagh 2/28) by an innings and 116 runs.

Division 2

Kent v Leicestershire

As expected, the game ended in a tame draw and both teams shared points as the final day too was washed out. Out of the four days, only the first day saw complete action when 98.4 overs were bowled. Due to rain and bad light 47 overs were lost on day two, while the third and fourth days saw no action at all.

Brief scores: Leicestershire 341 (Mark Cosgrove 119, Mark Pettini 97, Darren Stevens 4/74) drew with Kent 117/2 (Daniel Bell-Drummond 65*, Ben Raine 1/20).

Worcestershire v Gloucestershire

In a dramatic turn of events, Gloucestershire came from behind to seal a victory by five wickets. They took some risky decisions and it paid off for them. After declaring while still trialing by 77 runs, Gloucestershire had Worcestershire struggling at 151 for five at stumps on day three.

The partnership between Ross Whiteley and Ben Cox looked almost certain to save the game for Worcestershire but once it was broken, with the score reading 196, Gloucestershire capitalised and rolled them over for 239. Needing 317 to win with around 65 overs left in the game, the visitors were reduced to 141 for five.

At that point in time, it almost looked out of reach for Gloucestershire. However, the arrival of Jack Taylor brought a new sense of hope. He along with Michael Klinger mixed caution with aggression to take their side home. The duo hit hundreds in an unbeaten 179-run stand that helped their team to a five-wicket win.

Brief scores:Worcestershire 439 (Tom Kohler-Cadmore 169, Liam Norwell 4-70) and 239 (Ross Whiteley 71, Daryl Mitchell 55, Craig Miles 5/54) lost to Gloucestershire 364 for6 decand 320 for 5 (Jack Taylor 107*, Michael Klinger 102*, Joe Leach 2/70) by 5 wickets.
