Khadoor Sahib September 19:

Punjab Congress has planned to take the ruling SAD-BJP Government to task in the forthcoming session of Punjab Vidhan Sabha on the issue of major failures of the Government.

Leader of Opposition and former Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, while addressing a political conference at Khadoor Sahib in Amritsar district, claimed that Akali Government was working against the wishes of the people of Punjab. Accompanying Bhattal, Punjab Pradesh Congress president Mohinder Kay Pee stated that there will be change of power in Punjab soon.

Kay Pee said that the Badal Government has not given the grant of `800 crore to the farmers of Punjab sanctioned by the Centre to disburse compensation among the farmers. “Badal Government has overburdened the farmers by charging electricity bills thus going back on their own election manifesto in which they promised free electricity for the farmers,” he added.

Raising the issue of indifferent attitude of SAD towards the Majha belt, Gurdaspur MP Partap Singh Bajwa said: “No single project in the last three years was given to Majha region, all the important projects were taken by Badal to Malwa belt from where he himself, his son, his daughter-in-law and nephew who fought in the elections.”

Bajwa also appealed to the Congress high command for not giving ticket in the Majha region to any outsider, and “only local people who have served the people of Majha should be given opportunity to fight the elections on the Congress ticket”.
