Chittor Fort: A 1300 year old fort complex that is one of the largest of its kind in India

It sprawls over a hill 180 m (590.6 ft) in height spread over an area of 280 ha (691.9 acres).

In 1303, the Delhi Sultanate ruler Alauddin Khalji led an army to conquer Chittor, which was ruled by the Guhila king Ratnasimha.

Alauddin captured Chittor after an eight-month long siege.

According to his courtier Amir Khusrow, he ordered a massacre of 30,000 local Hindus after this conquest.
