Canonical releases Ubuntu and Android dual boot developer preview

Canonical is yet to launch its Edge Smartphone with Ubuntu and Android OS Support, but before that the company wants to give some previously launched Android Smartphones the feature to dual-boot two Operating Systems, specifically to the Nexus Devices.

The company has today released its new Ubuntu and Android dual boot developer preview, which will allow Nexus users to easily run Android OS alongwith Ubuntu OS. It is currently only available for developers and those who are interested can get the full details about it from here.

According to Canonical, this is a developer preview and it supports the stock Android installation alongwith some firmwares like CyanogenMod or AOSP based custom ROMs. “With dual boot, switching between OSs had never been easier. No more key combinations or command line interfaces to jump into the next OS: on each side, an app with a simple user interface will enable you to boot back and forth at the tap of a button,” David Planella of Canonical notes in a blog post.
