Bugatti recently released a teaser picture on its Facebook page of a hangar door with light shining out from behind it. The picture also has a message asking its fans to stay tuned for a new development. At first, we thought it was the highly anticipated Super Veyron, but now Bugatti has announced that it has clinched the world record for the world’s fastest convertible vehicle using the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse . The top-speed of 408.8kmph was recently achieved by Chinese driver Anthony Liu at parent company Volkswagen’s Ehra-Lessin facility in Germany.

To mark the occasion, the French supercar maker will launch a limited edition called the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse World Record car Edition at the Shanghai Motor Show. The car is powered by the Grand Sport’s standard 8.0-litre quad-turbo W16 mill that produces 1216PS and 1500Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the wheels via seven-speed dual clutch gearbox and a four-wheel drive system.

The car has a 0-100 time of 2.6 seconds and its monocoque body is made entirely of carbon fibre to give the structural rigidity needed to keep the car stable. Bugatti has also developed special roof spoiler and windbreaker to keep the wind noise and air turbulence to a minimum. The car will be available in the orange and black paint trim of the Super Sport. The French automaker will have a very exclusive eight car run. Each vehicle will be priced at a 1.69 million GBP (Rs 14.13 Crore) and we are guessing that they have already been sold out.
