After an average start on Friday, Peepli [Live] showed a commendable grip on box office over the weekend and became hot favourite of cinema goers who have just one question on their tongues: ‘Will Natha die?’. Not even a horror flick with a scintillating bikini clad actress could drive away the crowds from the flick. Can we say Aamir Khan has turned a magician?

Peepli [Live] witnessed a terrific Rs 15.50 crore approx business over its first weekend. Considering the film’s budget, its rural theme and absence of any film star, the collections have been amazing. The movie has also done good business on the overseas turf. It collected around $700,000 approx, though its UK release is still awaited.

Other release of the Friday, Help turned out to be a bummer. Even Mugdha Godse’s bikini act couldn’t help its bad performance at the box office. With 25-30% occupancy, the movie already seems a dead meat.

Sonam Kapoor’s film Aisha had not-so-bad first week of Rs 14.50 crore approx. It can make a lifetime business of Rs 20 crore; fair enough. However, the overseas business of the film is not great. Its ten days’ business has grossed $300,000 each in North America and UAE while from UK it is £100,000.

Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai has emerged a HIT. Ekta Kapoor won’t mind going again to Siddhivinayak barefoot. In its second week the movie is still doing good business. The two-week total is now Rs 47 crore approx and as expected can easily cross the Rs 55 crore mark.
