Aditya Sachdeva’s friends, who were travelling with him in a Maruti Swift car on the fateful day, have told police that the assailants were in a silver coloured Land Rover with a Delhi registration number and a police personnel.
They told cops that when the SUV tried to overtake their vehicle , the driver was unable to give a pass due to the crowd on the road. When they reached the police line area on Jail Road, the SUV intercepted their car. One of them whipped out a silver colour pistol, pulled the driver Mohammad Nasir out and thrashed him, they added.
Police said as per their statement, when the youngsters resisted, a police personnel in commando dress travelling in the SUV mercilessly thrashed Nasir, Mohammad Kaifi, Ankit Kumar and Ayush Agrawal —all friends of slain Aditya, who had finished his Class 12 CBSE board exams and was awaiting results.
“One of the youngsters said when they tried to drive away, the person with the silver pistol fired at them. One of the bullets hit Aditya who was sitting at the back,” said police official, adding that Aditya’s friends revealed they could not hear the horn of the SUV as the car’s music system was on.
Gaya SSP Garima Mallik told HT that the four friends recorded their statements under Section 164 of CrPC (recording of confessions and statements) before the court of first-class judicial magistrate Rakesh Ranjan Singh. They narrated the sequence of events leading to their friend’s murder by Rakesh Ranjan Yadav alias Rocky.
The Gaya SSP said a case (130/16) had been lodged against Rocky, Rajesh and others under IPC sections of 302/307/341/323/427/120 (b) and the Arms Act on the basis of the statement of the victim’s elder brother, Akash Sachdeva.
