The world produces enough food to feed seven billion of the entire global population, and still one in nine people go to bed hungry. Read what Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere, is doing to survive.

How much of poverty have you seen around? Too much and too terrible, right? Poor people are forced to eat whatever they can get their hands on. In Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere, the scarcity of food have made the Haitians turn to mud platters for their survival. No, not to hold food but to eat them.

They have got so used to eating mud platters that now this has become a normal practice for them. They buy mud, make platters, sell and eat them. The most common food in the slum, Cite Soleil.

Seeing what the poor are forced to eat, it is high time for us to think twice before we waste food.

We have collected some data about world hunger and how much the world is wasting food you need to check out:

Today, there are over 700 million malnourished people in the world. The Global Hunger Index, which is a tool to calculate countries' hunger, has put Burundi's hunger situation in the "extremely alarming" category.

In February 2016, France became the first country in the world to ban supermarkets from wasting and destroying unsold and perfectly good food to prevent food waste. The country asked its grocery stores to donate the unsold food to charities and food banks.
