Two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto has set sight on securing the top spot in the world and a blueprint was being drawn.





"Bajaj Auto has a serious plan to become Global No.1 and there are many programmes being developed for this purpose," S Sridhar, CEO, Two-Wheeler, Bajaj Auto, told reporters here after launching the company's latest entrant, the Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS.

He said the company wanted to become the leader both in volume of sales as well as biking experience. However, Sridhar declined to elaborate on the company's plans. Commenting on Pulsar LS 135, he said it had many firsts including a four valve DTS-i engine and was the first entrant in the Light Sports segment.

Priced at Rs 51,000 ex-showroom (Delhi), the company aimed at selling 75,000 units of the motorcycle in the next three months in India, he said adding it suited the city rider more. Promising an acceleration rate of 0-60 kmph in 5.1 seconds, Sridhar said the new variant of Pulsar will clock a top speed of 115 kmph.

He said more than 30 percent of the Bajaj customers possessed vehicles varying between 180 and 220 cc.The latest offering was aimed at the 18-30 age group, with an intention of breaking the general attitude that Pulsar variants were meant for the affluent sections as the bikes cost upward of Rs 65,000 on road.
The company intended to sell one million Pulsars next year, he added.
