We’ve long adored Asus’ classic Eee PC 10xx series of netbooks for their excellent portability, low price and amazing battery life, but generally speaking, if you’ve written a post about one of them, you’ve written a post about them all.
Not so their latest, though, the Eee PC 1015PN: it’s the first 10-inch netbook Asus has put together boasting NVIDIA ION graphics.
The details aren’t all a matter of public record yet, but according to Liliputing, the 1015PN will come with either a 1.83GHz Intel Atom N475 CPU or a 1.5GHz Intel Atom N550 dual core chip, with my personal hopes resting on the latter. It will look identical to the 1015PED and 1015PEM, with a chiclet keyboard and a matte touchpad finish, but they’re boosting the usual 1024 x 600 10.1-inch display to a much crisper 1366 x 768.
As for ION, the new 1015PN will boast the ability to pump out 1080p high-definition video, presumably through HDMI. ION also makes this a great choice for gamers looking for a solid, smaller-sized netbook for on-the-road deathmatches.
Since there’s no official specs yet, we can’t tell you a firm release for the 1015PN quite yet, although it looks like it will launch sometime next month and the price seems pegged at 399 Euros in Europe, and it’s probably not reasonable to expect it to gain more than a $50 premium on that price when it hits the States.
