No typos there, nor is it wishful thinking! According to the reports coming in, Cupertino-based, Apple Inc. and South Korea-based, Samsung Electronics met recently to look ahead, together at a patent settlement, which would put to an end a long standing legal battle, reports First Post. Elaborating further on the report - top executives of both the companies, reportedly met recently to look at a potential reconciliation. Those following our reports closely over the months, covering the patent lawsuit brewing across several courts, globally involving both Apple and Samsung.

It all began when Apple sued Samsung over allegations that the South Korean company had ‘slavishly’ copied the designs of their iProducts to designing their own line of smartphones and tablets, thereby infringing on their patents. The report further states that, "Apple CEO Tim Cook does not seem to share his predecessor’s passion about laying all foes to waste. Cook appears to view litigation as a necessary evil, not a vehicle of cosmic revenge." This is quite in line with a Bloomberg Businessweek report, which quoted Steve Jobs as saying to his authorized biographer, Walter Isaacson - "I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go to thermonuclear war on this."

Lawsuit to stop now?

Both Apple and Samsung have been grabbing global headlines, since months now. The companies have been giving each other a tough time, and lawsuits are currently on in several countries, globally. The last we heard from the lawsuit was just recently, when Samsung failed to score an iPhone and iPad ban in the Netherlands. This report followed closely a report, which stated that Apple was looking at banning the Galaxy Nexus smartphone in the U.S. Over the months, several products from both Apple as well as the Samsung camps saw themselves being tangled in the patent lawsuit.
