The Queen’s baton is all set to enter the Indian territory from Pakistan through Attari at around 9.30 am on Friday. It will be a historic moment for the holy city of Amritsar and people of Punjab.
After receiving the baton from his Pakistani counterpart and the chief of Pakistan Olympic Association Lt-Gen Syed Aarif Hassan at 9.30 am, Indian Olympic Committee (IOC) chief Suresh Kalmadi would pass it on to the guests and prominent sportspersons.
At the same time, a commemorative stamp would be released. Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal would receive the baton at Custom’s gate in presence of a large number of enthused spectators.
