Abu Dhabi: Al Jazira maintained their winning streak when they beat Dubai by a solitary goal in the Etisalat Cup at Mohammad Bin Zayed Stadium yesterday.
Yesterday's win took their points total to nine from three matches.
Australian defender Lucas Neill scored the winning goal in the 37th minute following a flag kick from Delgado which the visiting defenders cleared only for Neill to chest and put home with a powerful left-footer that rocked the net.
It was his first goal for the club since joining this summer.
Dubai were the better team in the second half especially after the referee sent off Ebrahima Diaky for two yellow cards, but failed to score as the Al Jazira goalkeeper Khalid Saif was in top form. The best chance for the visitors came in the 71st minute, three minutes after the expulsion of Diaky, when Camara sent a lob to Nabeel Al Daoudi inside the sic yard area. The Moroccan striker headed, but Saif saved brilliantly to earn his opponent's appreciation.
