After their first wave of attack on India's mobile telecom sector, now JIO is planning fiber-based broadband Internet across 900 cities and towns, TelecomTalk reported.
The company has reportedly finalised agreements with an ecosystem of companies across technology, infrastructure, devices, and apps.
"In addition to 4G wireless services, RJIL (Reliance Jio Infocomm) is rolling out high speed internet services via FTTx in over 900 cities/towns. The high speed fibre connectivity will enable RJIL to provide a wide gamut of digital services across various sectors," RJio had announced last year.
Plans will start at Rs. 500, and subscribers will have access to streaming services like JioTV, Jio Music and Jio Cinema through an IPTV set top box.
Telecom majors are viewing optical fiber to meet the ever increasing data demands.
Upon launch Jio will have the biggest fiber-based broadband network in India. In comparison, Airtel has a fiber based network in 90 cities.
