Okay, we’ll admit it: Acer’s new Aspire Revo 3700 isn’t quite as sexy a subcompact mini-PC as the Zotac Blu-Ray capable Zbox we wrote about just a few hours ago, but if you’re looking for a small form-factor HTPC at an affordable price — or just a cheap, compact desktop to hook up to an existing monitor — this is still a system to be excited about.
Inside the tiny black plastic chassis, the Revo 3700 features a 1.8z Atom dual-core D525 CPU, as well as 4GB of DDR3 memory, four USB 2.0 ports and a 500GB hard drive. NVIDIA’s Ion chipset drives the graphics, meaning the Aspire Revo 3700 will easily pump out 1080p video playback through the desktop’s VGA or HDMI outputs.
Rounding out the specs: the ubiquitous 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, a mini PCIe slot and a gigabit Ethernet port, although there’s no slot-loading disc drive. Unfortunately, the price when this is released later in the year seems quite high, with a MSRP of close to $600.
