An abandoned bag sparked a scare at the Pathankot railway station on Tuesday. However, no explosives were found in the bag.
Earlier, an alert was sounded after police found the bag following which the railway station was evacuated immediately.
“No explosives were found in abandoned bag in Pathankot railway station,” Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, DIG (Border range) was quoted as saying by ANI.
The police combed through the area and experts in bomb defusal from the Army were rushed to the spot.
Pathankot has been on high alert since the deadly terrorist attack on its Indian Air Force Base last month, killing seven defence personnel.
On January 2, six heavily-armed militants attacked the Pathankot airbase in a pre-dawn strike. All militants and seven soldiers died in the shooting that followed.
Meanwhile, an alert has been sounded in Uttarakhand where reports have emerged of terror suspects on the loose in the state.
