1. Ranjit Singh murder case
Ram Rahim is charged with involvement in the murder conspiracy of Dera manager Ranjit Singh in July 2002, allegedly killed by his associates after he distanced himself from the sect. He was suspected to have circulated anonymous letters alleging sexual harassment of sadhvis inside the Dera HQ in Sirsa. Case before CBI court in Panchkula. The trial is in its final stage.

2. Journalist Ram Chander Chatterpati murder case
Sirsa-based journalist Chatterpati was killed on October 23, 2002, for reporting about illegal activities inside the Dera HQ. Ram Rahim was booked along with three others for alleged involvement in the murder conspiracy. The case is being probed by CBI and pending before CBI court in Panchkula. The trial is in its final stage.

3. Castration of followers
The sect head also faces allegations of castration of followers inside the Dera HQ. On December 23, 2014, High court ordered CBI to probe the castration charges. The complainant had claimed he, along with 400-odd disciples, was allegedly castrated inside dera "to achieve God through guidance of guru". The case is being probed by CBI.

4. Dress row
Ram Rahim courted controversy in 2007 for wearing a dress similar to that of Sikh Guru Gobind Singh. A case was registered against him by Bathinda police. Massive violence erupted in Punjab, Haryana for days. Punjab government later withdrew the case in 2014.

5. Army advisory
Army issued advisory in December 2010 about weapons training to Dera activists at Sirsa. High court issued notice to Haryana government and sought details on the presence of illegal arms, ammunition, weapons training inside complex. But the government gave clean chit to the sect.
