A 20-year-old woman, who worked as a domestic help in Indirapuram, was found dead after falling from the 11th floor of a building on Saturday night, say police.
A security guard at ATS Advantage apartments in Ahinsa Khand-1 found the woman, Mamta, lying outside the building at about 12.30 am and informed the police. She was rushed to a private hospital where she was declared dead.
“The woman’s slippers and two bags were found near her body,” said Gorakhnath Yadav, station house officer, Indirapuram Police Station.
Mamta worked as a full-time help in a flat in tower 11, said police. She has been hired to work in the house on August 26 through a household help-supplying agency.
Her employer is also the maintenance in-charge of the society, police said.
“The employer told the police that Mamta had sought permission to go home and that they spoke to the agency about replacing her two days ago. He does not know how she fell. He said that she used to sleep in the balcony from where she may have jumped to her death,” said Yadav.
The police are considering the possibility that Mamta accidentally fell to her death while trying to escape from the balcony after throwing her bags over.
“If Mamta wanted to commit suicide, she would not have thrown her bags beforehand. We are awaiting the postmortem report which will make things clearer,” Yadav said.
