Sikh women, children face racial insult in UK

A group of Sikh women and children were among the 60 odd people travelling in a bus returning from a picnic, when their bus burst out in flames. They had a narrow escape when a policeman helped them out.

But even more traumatic was the racial abuse that followed as they were waiting by the roadside for a replacement bus. They were taunted and insulted by motorists who saw them standing.

"This has never happened in so many years of us living in Luton. We were so scared when the bus caught fire but didn't realise there was worse. My son still remembers," said Sukhvinder Kaur, a passenger.

"They said, "you Pakis go back to the burning bus!" They were white teenagers," recalled Paramvir, the son.

"The children are still so scared. When we can't forget how can they?" said Kulvinder Kaur.

There is real anger among the Sikh community in Luton over the incident but they have not filed a complaint with the police so far. They are planning to meet at the local gurudwara over the weekend to decide their future course of action.

luton of all places. luton is also the area where an army parade was over shadowed by a group of extremist muslims protesting against the british army. labelling british soldiers as cowards and murderers. Uneducated and intolerant people, particularly those who are white british, will call someone a paki because they look asian. Nothing to do with being sikh.
