PUNJAB CONG TAKES STRONG EXCEPTION OF PROPOSED BUDGET

Chandigarh January 21:

Punjab Congress Legislature Party leader Rajinder Kaur Bhattal has taken strong exception to the proposed burden of Rs 4,000 crore on the people of the State as per recommendation of the Sukhbir-Kalia committee reports.

She said that people of the State were looking forward for the announcement of major relief’s and development in the State in the fourth year of governance of SAD-BJP Government as per their election manifesto, but all their hopes have been shattered to the ground with the proposed levy of new taxes.

The CLP leader said that SAD-BJP Government had reneged from the promises made to the electorate and had now only one motive to fill the coffers which had been emptied by its mismanagement and miss-governance. She averred that it was evident from the second status report of ‘Punjab Governance Reforms Commission’ that inefficiency of the Government is a problem and it required ‘governance fix’ and not merely a ‘fiscal correction’ to reduce the ills facing the State.

Terming the report of Finance Committee constituted by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Financial reforms as farce and futile exercise Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Mohinder Singh Kaypee said on Wednesday that the SAD-BJP Government has virtually failed to put up a viable proposal for addressing the financial problems of the State.
