Police have booked at least 20 persons on charge of setting afire a truck that was carrying 15 cows near Jhall village.

The trouble started when Amargarh police stopped a truck transporting 15 cowheads to Malerkotla last night. The cattle were in a miserable condition due to overcrowding in the vehicle.

As police were in the process of shifting the cattle to a cowshed, a mob of around 30-35 people, said to be members of some Hindu organisations, gathered at the spot and set the truck on fire. Police then booked the detained miscreants under Sections 438, 353, 186, 148 and 149 of the IPC and were investigating the matter.
