New Delhi March 28:

In what could come as a big help to parents, the Haryana government has launched a new software in Rohtak, which will enable the administration to send web-based SMS alerts on scheduled dates for immunization.

These SMS alerts will be sent to parents in three installments — seven days and three days ahead of the scheduled date, while the last one will be sent on the date of immunization. The software is a brainchild of 2001 batch Haryana cadre IAS officer and deputy commissioner of Rohtak, Vikas Gupta. Rohtak MP and Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda's son Deepender said that the 'Immunization Information System' will be extended to all other districts in the state.

The government claimed on Sunday that Rohtak has become the first district of the country where information regarding vaccination of the newborns would be given to their parents or guardians through SMSs.
