HONOUR KILLING IN PATIALA; COUPLE HACKED TO DEATH

Chandigarh June 15:
In yet another case of honour killing, a man hacked to death his sister, who had got married against the wishes of her family, and her husband in Gajjukhera village of Patiala district.
Sarabjit Singh yesterday barged into the couple's house and hacked them to death. While Suresh Kumar died on the spot, the girl Shanwinder Kaur succumbed to injuries later in a hospital, police said on Sunday.
Kaur, a dalit girl had fallen in love with Kumar, a khatri boy of the same village two years back, and had got married in a court against the wishes of their parents. While the parents of the boy eventually accepted the match, the girl's parents were yet to come to terms with the alliance.
After getting the support of the boy's family, the couple had written to police that they did not need security, police said. Sarabjit Singh has been arrested and police have registered a case and constituted teams to nab parents and daughter of Sarabjit Singh.
